Apple releases a special tactile trailer for F1 movies, feeling the engine roaring with iPhone vibrations

Apple continues its marketing onslaught of F1 movies, arriving at US Cinema on June 27th. Apple has released a new trailer on the movie’s TV app, but this has a twist. Apple calls it a “tactile trailer.” What they mean is, as you see, your phone vibrates in sync with the video.

In Formula 1, Brad Pitt races around the track, allowing you to feel the roar of the car’s engine. How does this work…

To try out the haptic trailer, you need an iPhone running iOS 18.4 or later. Open the TV app and go to the TV+ tab. The tactile trailer requires a banner of interest. If not, search for F1: app movies and see the tactile trailer banner in detail.

The trailer shows the accuracy and fidelity of the taptic engine within the latest iPhone. The intensity and emotion are exactly what you’re seeing on screen. When the engine revs, you can physically feel the ramp in your hands. At one point, Sonny (Brad Pitt) is bounceing the ball with his Ping Pong Racket, each of which is separated by a haptic effect.

You probably don’t want to watch the entire film like this, but it becomes a compelling, unique trailer gimmick.

F1: The film will be filmed internationally in theaters on June 25th and in the US on June 27th. The film will be on display in cinemas for a while before it makes its way into an Apple TV+ streaming film.
