I had a previous incarnation of this product for more than 20 years. My old dehydrator gradually lost bits of plastic but it still worked until I accidentally dropped something into the motor causing it to smoke. I bought this replacement and right out of the box noticed that the lid did not fit the trays. If you look at the photos you can see there's a gap at the edge. No matter how you try to fit the "round" lid onto the "round" trays it doesn't sit properly, and there's not supposed to be a gap. I paid about $25 for my first one 20+ years ago. This one cost $89 and doesn't seem to be as well made, but I bought it because I can use the trays and other accessories from my old machine with this one. That is the ONLY I bought this. So far I'm not impressed. I hesitate to return it because they are probably all as poorly made as this one. Hey Nesco, maybe you should employ some quality inspectors. I would have failed this item. Otherwise, I will check and see if it actually works, and if it does, I will update this review.

I grow a lot of vegetables in my garden, and when there is a surplus of anything, I use this dehydrator to preserve them for future use. It is easy to use, and the dried veggies last for a long time. I have some from ten years ago that are still good. It comes with four trays, but you can buy extras. I have used as many as twelve at a time, and it works fine.
