SwitchBot is expanding beyond a compact smart home accessory to becoming a central part of your daily life with its new weather station.
At the center of the device is a 7.5-inch E-Ink screen that displays a wide range of snapshots of your daily situation. Shows indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, air quality data, sunrise and sunset times, 5-day forecast, and current and previous day’s weather. The idea is to reduce dependence on apps by bringing important information into a single, always-on interface that feels more like a home dashboard than a gadget.
Using E-Ink technology, the display is easy to read in almost all lighting conditions, without the glare or distractions of traditional screens, and the built-in front light helps in dark rooms. It is also very flexible when it comes to installation, such as mounting it on a wall or placing it on a desk.
SwitchBot also leans heavily into environmental monitoring. The weather station can connect up to three external SwitchBot sensors, allowing users to track conditions in multiple rooms or spaces adjacent to the outdoors, such as balconies, greenhouses, garages, and nurseries. When combined with SwitchBot Hub, it can also trigger alerts if temperature or humidity exceeds predefined thresholds, effectively extending its role beyond display to light environment automation.
Beyond weather, this device also doubles as a home organizer. Supports syncing with Google, iCloud, and Outlook calendars to get up to 5 separate schedules and view up to 30 events per person each day. This turns it into a shared family planning screen where you can see work meetings, school events, reminders, and daily tasks all at a glance.
To make the interface more adaptable, SwitchBot includes six different display themes. These range from environmental dashboards and daily summaries to countdowns, calendars, and even a “Daily Birth” mode. There are also custom text options for personalized messages and information, giving users more flexibility in choosing what they prioritize on their screens throughout the day.
Physical interaction is limited but intentional. Two customizable scene buttons on the device allow users to directly trigger smart home routines, from turning on lights and adjusting blinds to activating “on the go” or “movie” modes when paired with a SwitchBot hub. This is a small addition, but one that strengthens the weather station’s role as a control point rather than just a display.
Power comes from a 5000mAh rechargeable battery, which SwitchBot claims can last up to a year depending on refresh settings, and also offers USB-C charging for a more permanent setup. The device also includes up to three alarms with adjustable volume and snooze controls for everyday home practicality.
With Weather Station, SwitchBot clearly aims to make information about your surroundings more present in your home. It’s not about checking things, it’s about having more things that quietly stay in your view while everything else is happening around you.
