If you’re considering purchasing Homey Pro, you’d better act soon.
Homey has confirmed that both the Homey Pro and Homey Pro Mini will receive a significant price increase starting June 1st. The company blames rising memory and storage costs.
According to Homey, the standard Homey Pro will increase in price from $399 to $449. Meanwhile, the smaller Homey Pro Mini will go from $199 to $249. If existing inventory is sold out by June, new prices may be applied sooner.
According to the company, this price increase is mainly related to the higher prices of RAM and eMMC storage. These are the components at the heart of your smart home hub. Homey also pointed to supplier Raspberry Pi. The supplier has already increased prices and warned that further increases could occur later this year.
This isn’t the kind of announcement smart home fans don’t want to hear. Especially now that local-first platforms like Homey are becoming an attractive alternative to cloud-dependent ecosystems. However, the company claims it has postponed it for as long as possible. It also claims it is still absorbing some of the additional costs internally, rather than passing them on directly to customers.
Importantly, not all Homey products are increasing in price. Homey Bridge, Homey Energy Dongle, Ethernet adapter, Homey Cloud subscription, and self-hosted server options will all maintain their current prices. This is primarily because it doesn’t rely on high-memory hardware, which has been hit hardest by recent supply chain increases.
The timing is also interesting, as Homie has been aggressively expanding its business in recent weeks. The platform recently released dedicated apps for Android TV and LG webOS. This effectively turns your TV into a complete smart home dashboard with remote-enabled navigation and QR-based login. Also introduced was Homey.tv, a browser-based interface that also works with the Tesla browser, for controlling devices and automation from your car.
This broader push suggests that Homey is positioning itself as a more central smart home platform. This is a feature that spans your TV, vehicle, and local hardware, rather than just existing as another app on your phone.
Still, with prices about to jump by up to $50, it’s also clear that Homie is lending some urgency to those still on the fence.
