The delayed Apple TV series ‘The Savant’ will finally be released this summer

Jessica Chastain’s thriller series The Savant was originally scheduled to air on Apple TV last September. However, the company decided to cancel the release at 11 o’clock. Star Jessica Chastain said she “disagreed” with Apple over the decision. As the months passed, many doubted whether the series would ever air.

But ultimately, Chastain himself admitted to Variety, “We’re going to see it.” Variety reports that Apple is targeting a July launch date, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

The show’s TV app listing still shows The Savant as a 2025 series with a “coming at a later date” message. This page has not been updated since September, when the release was postponed indefinitely.

But there’s no doubt that Chastain himself has been informed that the series will be back on the schedule. In an interview with Variety, she said, “Before, I didn’t know if I would be able to see it, but now I can say I’m going to see it.” We can assume that an official announcement will be made soon.

Apple didn’t give a clear reason for its decision to cancel last year’s release, but The Savant explores themes such as online hate groups, domestic terrorism, and extremism. The plan appears to have overlapped too closely with the assassination of then-political activist Charlie Kirk, for Apple’s liking. Nevertheless, star and producer Chastain made it clear that he disagreed with the decision.

The relationship between the streamer and Chastain has remained amicable throughout. In addition to The Savant, Chastian is currently filming Apple’s new limited series The Off Weeks, also starring Ben Stiller. She will also appear in another Apple TV drama, “The Dealer,” co-starring Adam Driver.
