IKEA’s KAJPLATS smart lighting series is getting a new, cheaper entry point in the U.S., with two GU10 LED bulbs with wireless dimming and Matter support now available at a price below many competing smart home options.
The new products are the KAJPLATS LED Bulb GU10 632 Lumens Smart White Spectrum and the KAJPLATS LED Bulb GU10 517 LM Smart Color and White Spectrum, giving U.S. buyers a choice between adjustable white lighting and a full-color capable version.
Both bulbs are part of IKEA’s broader KAJPLATS line, which the company is introducing as part of its new Matter-compatible smart home push, and their U.S. listing is another step in replacing older TRÅDFRI-era products with broader standards support.
This change is significant because Matter support allows these bulbs to easily fit into mixed-device homes. Buyers increasingly expect a single light to work across multiple ecosystems, rather than being locked into a brand-specific configuration.
IKEA says both GU10 bulbs support wireless dimming, and app control via the IKEA Home smart platform enables grouped lights, timers and broader automation when combined with the company’s DIRIGERA hub.
The White Spectrum version reaches 632 lumens and focuses on adjustable white tones, while the color model tops out at 517 lumens and adds more extensive lighting customization, giving IKEA room to target both practical spotlights and more decorative smart lighting setups.
IKEA also lists a default color temperature of 2700K and a bulb life of 25,000 hours. This helps explain the value proposition, as these are low priced but not advertised as stripped-down smart lights.
When it comes to pricing, the most important consideration is the budget. IKEA sells the KAJPLATS GU10 632 lumen smart white bulb for $7.99 in the US, and smart color and white versions for $9.99.
These prices place IKEA’s new GU10 bulbs firmly within the budget range of the smart lighting market, although store availability still appears to vary by location through IKEA’s own inventory checker and online product listings.
