Apple discontinues sales of 14 products in March, 3 of which have no replacements

Apple announced a ton of new hardware this month. New iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more made March one to remember. Apple also discontinued a number of products this month, and not just to make room for new hardware.

Throw away the old and bring in the new

New products introduced in March include:

Apple also announced a Spring 2026 collection of new colors for iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, and crossbody straps, as well as the first-ever Beats and Nike collaboration, featuring a special edition of Powerbeats Pro headphones.

Due to new hardware, Apple has discontinued the following products:

  • iPhone16e
  • 11 inch M3 iPad Air
  • 13 inch M3 iPad Air
  • 13-inch M4 MacBook Air
  • 15-inch M4 MacBook Air
  • 14-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro
  • 14-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro
  • 16-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro
  • 16-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro
  • Apple Studio Display (2022)
  • AirPods Max (USB-C)

Each of these product discontinuations is a direct example of old being replaced by new.

Not all discontinued products have been replaced

However, Apple also discontinued two products line As well as the production version, it will be released in March.

First, Apple has discontinued the Pro Display XDR, a 32-inch, 6K resolution monitor introduced with the redesigned Intel Mac Pro in 2019.

The new Studio Display XDR is a spiritual successor, but the new “Pro” monitor is still a 27-inch, 5K resolution monitor, even with mini-LED technology and a higher refresh rate.

And on Thursday, 9to5Mac exclusively reported that Apple is discontinuing the Mac Pro. Mac Studio, which currently offers the M3 Ultra and M4 Max chips, was already ahead of the M2 Ultra Mac Pro. Apple finally did the inevitable and completely discontinued the Mac Pro product line.

Speaking of Mac Studio, Apple discontinued sales of the highest RAM configuration of that machine this month.

This is an example of how Apple likely struggled to source RAM for its machines during a global memory shortage caused by AI server needs.

Still, if you’re willing to pay for the absolute best machine, it’s rare to see Apple no longer taking your money.

This is especially noteworthy since 512GB RAM was touted as a key feature of the M3 Ultra chip inside Mac Studio, apart from overall performance.

What product went unsold in March despite rumors that a replacement was in the works? A16iPad.

Meanwhile, everyone is wondering when Apple will replace the Apple TV 4K, which was last refreshed in 2022. Has color television existed for a long time?
