Apple says iPhone will still be around in 50 years – and no AI executives

Apple SVP Eddy Cue previously suggested that we might not be using an iPhone in 10 years, but marketing chief Greg Joswiak doesn’t seem to agree.

Jos says in a new interview that it’s hard to imagine that we won’t still be using iPhones 50 years from now…

There won’t be an iPhone within 10 years…

Apple SVP Eddy Cue said last year that in 10 years, we may not need the iPhone.

“It may sound crazy, but in 10 years you might not need an iPhone,” he says. “The only way you can have true competition is when there is a change in technology. Technology change creates these opportunities. AI is a new technology change, creating new opportunities for new entrants.”

We recently noted that the executive had intentions behind that statement, but his views seemed to echo an internal presentation reported in 2019 in which he suggested that smart glasses would eventually replace smartphones, and that that change would occur within about a decade.

…or will the iPhone still be around in 50 years?

But Jos said: wired I couldn’t imagine not using an iPhone 50 years from now. The executive acknowledged the big changes AI would bring over such a period, but did not see a need for new types of hardware to use AI.

“Let’s not lose sight of the fact that what you just said is not compatible with the iPhone,” Joswiak says. “The iPhone isn’t going away. It’s going to play a very central role in everything you talk about.”

When asked specifically if he would still be using an iPhone 50 years from now, he said, “Yes.”

“It’s hard to imagine otherwise,” says Joswiak (…) “We’re not going into a future roadmap, but let’s just say that iPhone isn’t going anywhere.”

Tim Cook says Apple doesn’t have an AI executive

Apple CEO Tim Cook was also asked if there was a chance the company would be led by an AI executive, saying there was absolutely no chance of that happening, even in a 50-year time frame.

“If you look at the leadership page,” he says of the future of Apple, “we’re going to have a lot of fun. do not have Become an agent-like model there. ”
