Later this year, Apple will once again unveil a full set of flagship iPhones. While it may feel like the iPhone 17 Pro was released recently, it’s actually been five months since. Among the various rumors, the iPhone Fold certainly seems the most interesting, but the iPhone 18 Pro still has some interesting upgrades coming.
more colors
One of the great benefits of switching from aluminum to titanium is the fact that it’s much easier to produce more appealing colors. We saw that last year with Cosmic Orange, but Apple could choose to do more.
A rumor is always a rumor, especially when it’s announced nearly a year in advance. A Weibo leaker claims that Apple is considering three additional color options for the iPhone 18 Pro: brown, purple, and burgundy.
Interestingly, they say there won’t be a black option for the iPhone 18 Pro yet, despite it being the color most people want. Nevertheless, the iPhone 18 Pro is likely to be even more colorful.

smaller dynamic island
Since its introduction in 2022, the iPhone’s Dynamic Island has remained the same size, albeit with significantly slimmer bezels.
This year, that will change, and it looks like the Dynamic Island will be slightly smaller. This is mainly because some Face ID components can be moved below the display. Previous rumors had floated the idea of perforated cutouts, but apparently that’s not the case.

better camera
There are two important camera rumors for the iPhone 18 Pro.
First, both models may come with even better telephoto lenses. The iPhone 17 Pro now has an f/2.8 telephoto lens, which has been the standard for quite some time. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to have a wider opening per leaker, but it did not go into details.
Additionally, Apple is considering variable aperture for the main sensor, at least for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This provides users with additional depth control and flexibility when shooting during the day.
apple modem
Apple began debuting its modems with the iPhone 16e and iPhone Air last year, but all other iPhone models have yet to join the effort. This is mainly because Apple’s first generation modem did not support mmWave 5G.
However, that should change with iPhone 18. This year, all iPhone models should use the C2 chip. One of the big benefits of this transition is the fact that Apple’s modems will be much more efficient and have much longer battery life without having to use significantly larger batteries.
Additionally, there are rumors that Apple’s C2 modem could support 5G connectivity via satellite, allowing you to fully access your data even when you’re away from a cellular network. At the moment, satellite connections are primarily useful for sending texts.
A20 pro chip
As with almost every new iPhone, Apple introduces new, cutting-edge silicon. The new A20 Pro chip is the first to use the new 2nm process, which is expected to result in significant performance and efficiency improvements.
Similarly, Apple is likely to introduce improved networking chips with the N2 after debuting the N1 in its iPhone 17 lineup last year. There are no additional details regarding N2 at this time.

bigger battery
Finally, the iPhone 18 Pro will have an even bigger battery than the iPhone 17 Pro. This sounds obvious, but in reality, Apple has reduced battery capacity between iPhone generations several times.
According to early leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a battery of around 5200mAh, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s battery will be 5088mAh. This isn’t much, but as my colleague Ryan writes, battery capacity isn’t everything.
With a slightly larger battery, increased efficiency from the Apple modem, and the latest generation of Apple Silicon, the battery improvement can feel bigger than the numbers indicate.
summary
Overall, if you’re an Apple fan who passed on the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro might offer a level of sophistication that makes you want to upgrade.
Additionally, there are rumors that there will be no price increase at this time. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max should cost just $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
