According to a (now deleted) listing found on Amazon in Germany, Philips is preparing an update for its Hue Flourish table lamp, increasing the brightness from 806 lumens to 1,100 lumens. This refreshed model appears to be a competitor to IKEA’s recently announced Varmblixt donut lamp, but a global release date is still unknown.
The increased lumens mean Flourish lamps bring a noticeably brighter glow to your living space.
Unlike the pendant or ceiling versions of Flourish, table lamps do not have a fixed light source. Instead, it comes with a Philips Hue E27 bulb that provides full-color lighting and can be replaced if needed.
This bulb is a powerhouse of a brightness upgrade, and the lamp itself maintains its familiar dimensions of 26.1 cm wide and 17.5 cm high.
The price seems to be in line with the previous Flourish table lamp, which launched at $153.99/£129.99. This price includes both the E27 bulb and the glass lamp housing.
Incidentally, IKEA’s Varmblixt donut lamp will retail for $99.99 (about £75) when it launches in April, but international pricing has not yet been confirmed. So, if budget is your deciding factor, IKEA is still a cheaper option.
However, the choice is not just about cost. The Philips Hue ecosystem is one of the most established in smart lighting, and Hue Bridge provides seamless integration across bulbs, lamps, and accessories. If you’ve already invested in Hue products, the Flourish table lamp might work well into your setup.
IKEA’s lamps, on the other hand, are part of a broader design-led collection that may appeal to people who prioritize aesthetics over functionality in their smart homes.
Finally, it’s worth remembering that you don’t necessarily have to choose one brand over the other. Many of IKEA’s lamps are compatible with Philips Hue bulbs, giving you the option to combine IKEA’s signature design with Hue’s smart lighting features.
