Apple updates firmware for multiple iPad Magic Keyboard models

Apple is rolling out a new firmware update for four Magic Keyboard models for iPad Air and iPad Pro. Here are the details:

Firmware update is now available for 4 models

Although rare, firmware updates for Apple’s Magic Keyboard typically deliver important bug and security fixes, along with reliability and performance improvements.

As spotted by Aaron Perris on X, the company has released a firmware update for the following Magic Keyboard models.

In a nutshell, the firmware update covers the Magic Keyboard models for the M4 (and M5) iPad Pro in both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, and also includes the Magic Keyboard designed for the 11-inch and 13-inch M3 iPad Air.

Apple hasn’t published any release notes yet, but we’ll report back if the firmware update potentially adds new features beyond bug fixes and performance improvements.

Unlike AirPods, there is currently no way to force or trigger a firmware update on the Magic Keyboard. Apple explains:

Firmware updates are automatically delivered in the background while Magic Keyboard is actively paired to a device running macOS, iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS.
