Over the years, Apple TV has built an incredibly strong catalog for music lovers. From movies and documentaries to complete series, here are some of the most interesting music-related titles on the service.
Directed and written by Todd Haynes (I’m Not There), The Velvet Underground combines rare footage, both archival and new interviews, to tell the story of how one of the most influential bands in music history was formed.
As a fan of The Velvet Underground, this is definitely one of my favorite documentaries of all time, Apple TV or not. It also works very well as an introduction to the band, even if you’ve never heard their music.

Narrated by Mike D and Ad-Rock, the two surviving members of the B-Boys trio, Beastie Boys Story continues the familiar dynamic of combining old and new material to tell a story, but with the added dimension of live performance.
Filmed in front of a live audience and directed by Spike Jonze (Her), Beastie Boys Story tells the story of how three aspiring rappers create some of the world’s most famous songs.

I’ve never been an avid Billie Eilish listener, but when she burst onto the Bad Guy scene, I took notice. That’s why when I watched Billie Eilish: The World Is a Little Blurry, I was surprised to see that her creative process and early career was chronicled primarily by her parents and her brother, who was pretty confident that she would one day be successful.
Billie Eilish: The World Is a Little Blurry shows how that confidence and the pressures of stardom can be a dangerous combination, especially in an era when privacy is at a premium.

Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues, directed by the late Sasha Jenkins (Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mikes and Men), tells the beautiful and difficult story behind jazz music’s most iconic voice and trumpet.
From his responsibilities as a rising black icon in racially segregated America to the innovations he brought to jazz, music, and even film, Louis Armstrong’s Black and Blues explores sides of Armstrong’s story that have not been adequately told. If you like music of any kind, this is a must see.

I’m not a big K-pop fan. I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever consciously listened to a K-Pop song from beginning to end. But if that’s your thing, Apple TV has its own music battle contest starring PSY and Megan Thee Stallion and hosted by actress Soo-Jung Song.
KPOPPED puts an interesting twist on the classic talent show format. Collaborations between Western artists (from Patti LaBelle, Mel B of the Spice Girls and Emma Bunton to Vanilla Ice, Ke$ha and Boyz II Men) and K-Pop artists like Billie, ITZY and Kep1er remix and reimagine some of the performers’ biggest hits.
