macOS Tahoe users report persistent screen flickering

If you’ve noticed your screen flickering strangely after installing macOS Tahoe, you’re not alone. A growing number of users are reporting brief but distracting display flickering, especially when using Apple’s Studio Display.

macOS Tahoe introduced a display glitch that was frustrating for some users

In a post on Mastodon earlier this month, Dan Moren said he witnessed screen flickering on macOS Tahoe while using a Mac mini and MacBook Air with Studio Display. mcroomers This week we also highlighted the issue:

Flickering occurs most often when switching between apps with pure white backgrounds or when scrolling through web pages with light backgrounds. Any app can experience flickering, and sometimes it can seem random. When flickering occurs, it is usually a brief flicker, but the display may flicker several times in succession for several seconds at a time. Switching from dark to light content can most likely cause flickering on affected machines

In the post of six colorsMoren says he tried turning off features like True Tone, Night Shift, and Auto Brightness to resolve the issue.

“I tried disabling a few display features (TrueTone, Night Shift, Auto Brightness) to see if it made a difference. I felt turning off Night Shift might help, but this is one of those frustrating intermittent issues that can be difficult to track down.”

Unfortunately for most users, the latest macOS 26.1 and macOS 26.2 updates don’t seem to resolve this issue. In fact, some users say the issue may have occurred specifically on macOS 26.2. bad. Apple has not acknowledged this issue at all.

What we don’t know is whether this issue is specific to the Studio Display or whether it affects other displays as well. As a side note, I had no issues using Pro Display XDR with macOS Tahoe and an M4 MacBook Pro.

Are you experiencing any screen flickering issues since updating to macOS Tahoe? Let us know in the comments.
