The app created by Gentler Stories for cyclists, runners, and other performance-minded athletes is now even better with a beautiful Apple Watch app. Here are the details:
Ready for training in no time
A few months ago, I wrote about the launch of The Outsiders, a beautiful new exercise app from the dynamic team that also developed Gentler Streak.
At the time, they said the Apple Watch app would be released later this year. Now it’s available. It’s all about training preparation, which, as Gentler Stories explains, is “based on the ratio of acute to chronic training loads, combined with body metrics and sleep quality.”
Here’s today’s update from Katarina Lotrič, co-founder and CEO of Gentler Stories.
“The Apple Watch app marks the next step in our development, the point at which we feel the product is mature enough to sit alongside other fitness apps. (…) We created this app for athletes who don’t need motivation. What they need is meaningful insight into whether they’re ready to train. There are outsiders, but seeing their wish list reflected by early adopters is a good sign that we’re moving in the right direction.”
In addition to the Readiness Index, which will soon be adding unique complications, this update also brings the following metrics and useful insights to Apple Watch:
- 7-day training load rate (TLR)
- Heart rate during sleep for 7 days
- 7-day heart rate variability (HRV)
- 7-day wrist temperature
- 7 night respiratory rate
- Blood oxygen concentration for 7 nights
- recent night’s sleep
Today’s update marks the full release of The Outsiders, following multiple UI and UX enhancements introduced since its initial release.
The new Apple Watch app is as beautifully animated as The Outsiders users have come to expect and are accustomed to, and Gentler Stories recommends that you wear your Apple Watch overnight in addition to recording your training sessions for best results.
