Apple Watch high blood pressure notifications now available in Canada

The Apple Watch recently added a feature that alerts users to possible high blood pressure. Starting today, the hypertension detection feature will be available to more international users.

According to Canadian technology news site Mobile Syrup, Apple will enable high blood pressure notifications for Apple Watch users in Canada later today. This feature recently received approval from national regulatory authorities.

The Hypertension Notification feature works with the new Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 models.

It also works on some newer models (Apple Watch Series 9 and Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 2, etc.) after updating to watchOS 26.

Here’s how Apple describes the new high blood pressure notification feature on Apple Watch:

High blood pressure notification on Apple Watch uses data from an optical heart sensor to analyze how your blood vessels respond to your heartbeat. The algorithm works passively in the background, reviewing data over 30 days and notifying users when it detects consistent signs of high blood pressure. By simply wearing Apple Watch, these notifications provide users with valuable insight into their health status related to this widespread condition, so they can initiate potentially life-saving behavior changes or initiate treatment to reduce the risk of serious long-term health events.

The feature hasn’t been released long enough to start notifying Apple Watch users yet, but we’ll likely start hearing about the first instances from early adopters in the coming weeks.
