This is a replay of rumors and a weekly column cyberstorehut We provide a quick summary of the latest Apple product rumors, with analysis and commentary. Today: A new iPad is on the way, and more curious iOS Invites app. Here are the rumors about apples this week.
New iPad and iPhone SE 4 launches “by April”
This week, it has been widely misunderstood as it claims to be a new iPad, claiming that the iPhone SE 4 will be released as early as January. Mark Garman quickly rebutted the idea, providing his own expected timeline in the process.
He said the new iPad and iPhone SE 4 will be coming by April before iOS 18.4 is released.
My takeaway
This rumour mainly supports what we were already expecting, but there is potential information for the iPad Air.
It was rumored that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 and the new base iPad will be released all the time around March. However, Gurman has mentioned multiple “iPads” in his post. This is probably referring to the upcoming M3 iPad Air.
Gurman previously said that the new iPad Air would debut “at about the same time” as the iPhone SE 4, but since I only got my M2 Air last May, I personally didn’t expect a revision of the M3 until April. Such releases may still fit into the “Same Time” window.
However, it appears now that the new iPad Air could debut at the same time as the revised base iPad and iPhone SE in March.
Invite apps to Apple’s works
My this week cyberstorehut My colleague, Filipe Espocito, only reported on Apple’s indications developing a new “invitation” app.
The code was discovered in the latest iOS 18.3 beta and was able to demonstrate the ongoing work of the app. This could be a standalone app or integrated into other parts of iOS, such as iOS.
My takeaway
Little is known about this potential app. But my first thought is that it sounds more like a new feature set than a full-fledged app.
I was definitely able to see Apple bringing the upgraded Invite system to the calendar app. You can also create APIs that are used in other built-in iOS apps and third-party calendars.
For example, Fantastical offers a great system for managing calendar invitations, voting for invitations to make invites available, and sharing reservationable schedules with others. Apple’s Calendar App may use similar upgrades. All of these may be covered by Invites.
iPhone 17 Pro Design Change
It’s even more clear that Apple plans to bring design changes to the 17 Pro line as well as the iPhone 17 Air.
That latest: Weibo Leaker Fixed-Focus Digital shared that the iPhone 17 Pro uses “slope, not steps” to connect the backshell and main body.
My takeaway
It’s difficult to read this leak too much, as it’s a translation and doesn’t seem completely clear anyway.
It appears that the iPhone 17 Pro could return to a more curved side design. All models on the iPhone 12 and above use a flatter side.
This may be closely related to the shift to aluminum frames, as reported elsewhere.
Personally, I like the curves of the iPhone. However, with the recent increase in iPhone size, I think the bent sides can have a negative effect on the grip.
