Tonight’s Friday night baseball game brings out several new camera angles thanks to the iPhone 17 Pro. For the first time for professional live sports broadcasts, use your iPhone to capture actions.
In the Fenway Park match between the Tigers and Red Sox, the production uses four iPhones and gets different angles from the entire stadium. If iPhone footage is being used, a “Shot on iPhone” overlay will appear in the corner of the stream.
You can use your Apple TV+ subscription to watch Friday Night baseball at no extra charge. However, tonight’s doubleheader is the last of the 2025 season.
The iPhone 17 pro films live footage from four advantageous locations around the stadium, including the home dugout, and are located above the left field wall of the iconic green monster. One is also used as a roaming wireless RF camera rig.
Apple is pulling this out using widely available devices, such as the BlackMagic Camera app and the recently announced Blackmagic Camera Prodock.

In the iPhone’s resilience symbol as a professional tool, the same four iPhones are rolling over during the entire game and ready to cut at any time. Game Directors are free to switch to iPhone cameras throughout the event, including adjusting exposure, white balance, and remote zoom. Everything has been secretly prototyped and tested over the past few months.
The iPhone setup is used in conjunction with traditional broadcast cameras. The initiative is part of Apple’s continued partnership with MLB, offering innovative production enhancements for broadcasts that have already rolled out things like stadium drone shots, helmet cams and megalodon cameras.
Shots in the iPhone game between the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Dead Socks are scheduled to kick off at 7:10pm Eastern time. You can watch it on the Apple TV app using your Apple TV+ subscription.
