
Here’s Apple’s next major iPhone software update: iOS 26 is released today, but not all iPhones are compatible with the new software. Here are the iPhone models that support (and not) iOS 26:
Three iPhone models missed iOS 26 support
Every year Apple releases major new software versions, there is always a possibility that older hardware models will not be supported.
Last fall, iOS 18 was supported by all the same iPhones that could run iOS 17. However, this year there will be changes to model compatibility with iOS 26.
iOS 26 it’s not support:
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
These three models are supported on iOS 18, but Apple dropped them on iOS 26 this year.

- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16 and 16 Plus

- iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 and 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 and 13 Mini

Even if the model is technically capable of running iOS 26, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you get all of its features.
For example, iOS 26 has over 20 new Apple Intelligence features exclusively for the new iPhone. These improvements require at least the iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
