The iPhone 17 case lineup allows you to take a design queue from the AirPods Pro

When Apple announces its iPhone 17 lineup next month, it appears that new versions of Apple’s first-party protective cases will also be shown. If the latest rumours apply, the iPhone 17 case lineup will get your design queue from the AirPods Pro 2 charging case.

Apple plans to add optional strap loop support to its official iPhone 17 case. That’s according to leakers Majin Bou and Duan Louis.

Apple already includes a similar strap loop slot in the AirPods Pro 2 charging case. The strap loop slot rumored to have an iPhone 17 case design looks similar.

First, Duanrui shared this post on X. This shows strap loop slots on each side of Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro case (based on the design file). The Chinese-to-English translation states, “The official phone case for the iPhone 17 Pro series has two additional strap holes at the bottom.”

Separately, Majin Bu has published a blog post showing the so-called liquid silicon case design. Majin Bu reflects the claim that Apple plans to support optional strap accessories in its iPhone 17 case lineup this year. Also, this post shows what the new design of Apple’s silicone case is, but there is always a chance that Apple will use this design in Beat branded cases instead.

This trend further pushes the iPhone into more dedicated camera territory. Point and Shoot cameras usually come with straps that are quickly out of the box to avoid dropping or losing the camera while filming. Apple has already added dedicated camera controls to its iPhone, and essentially places the shutter button where you expect it.

A few years ago, Apple had an even more innovative solution using the iPod Touch, but subsequent revisions to the iPod Touch removed the built-in retractable structureable button.

Third-party iPhone cases already offer similar features to existing iPhones, like Bellroy’s great venture case, but this move will be the first move for Apple-branded cases, even if the straps are sold separately, as with the AirPods Pro 2 charging case.
